MAT: GIS-Based Morphometry Assessment Tools for Concave Landforms
نویسندگان
چکیده
The rapid development of remote sensing technology for obtaining high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) in recent years has made them more and widely available allowed to be used morphometric assessment concave landforms, such as valleys, gullies, glacial cirques, sinkholes, craters, others. aim this study was develop a geographic information systems (GIS) toolbox the automatic extraction 26 characteristics, which include geometry, hypsometry, volume landforms. Morphometry Assessment Tools (MAT) ArcGIS software developed. required input data are model form boundary vector layer. method successfully tested on an example 21 erosion-denudation valleys located young area northwest Poland. Calculations were based collected field LiDAR data. results obtained with tool showed differences parameter at average level 12%, when comparing algorithm can also applied other types forms, well being DEM sources, makes it universal evaluation.

In the framework of a wider research project, aimed at developing an high performance computing infrastructures in Southern Italy, the SISI project aims at developing customized GIS tools for vulnerable site selection in Italian territory. Vulnerable sites will be defined based on co-presence of different dangerous/vulnerable geographic features in given areas. Morphological and topological cri...

We describe algorithms for measuring the thickness of neuron processes and the shape of neuron cell bodies. The design of these tools follows a \semi-automatic" approach. Image processing tools that would fail when applied to the whole image can produce very useful results if the user connnes them by hand to small parts of the image, and if the user is given the opportunity to undo or correct t...

Express. These orbiters are surveying the entire Martian surface to understand the planet’s past and the geological, climatic, and other processes responsible for its present state. They gather ever-increasing amounts of spatially extended data. Science data archived from all planetary missions prior to the 2001 Mars Odyssey mission totals approximately 5 terabytes. NASA expects that number to ...
متن کاملDEM and GIS based morphometric and topographic- profile analyses of Danxia landforms
“Danxia landform” is a landform type originally defined in China, characterized by red-colored sandstones and steep cliffs, and developed through long-term erosion. In recent years, Danxia landforms have been receiving international attention, and six examples in China became a UNESCO World Natural Heritage in 2010. However, morphometric studies of Danxia landforms in China have been very limit...
